Chasing Ice — Sun May 4, 4pm, Westport Town Hall
Has climate change already run amok across our planet? If so, what is actually happening? We now have a chance to see for ourselves with the showing of the award-winning, 75-minute documentary, “Chasing Ice.”
National Geographic environmental photographer, James Balog, and his team, crisscrossed the Artic in a series of body-numbing treks to place time-release cameras that bring us hauntingly beautiful videos. They compress years into seconds and capture ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate, raising more havoc that we can yet imagine.
Join us for a screening of this spell-binding movie. It is our contribution to Earth Day, 2014. You will also have a chance to raise your own voice in a lively talk-back following the show.
Panelists will be Staples High School Club Green co-presidents, Sarah Fox and Robby Gershowitz; David Mann, chair of Westport’s Green Task Force; and Marty Yellin, a local expert in global warming and conservation.
Place: Westport Town Hall
Tickets are $10 online or at the door. Our partner for this event is Staples High School Club Green.
